About Us

The Christmas Convoy has a humble beginning starting with only one truck, a single strand of lights and a mission to spread the Christmas spirit. Now with over a dozen trucks and thousands of lights, we have grown in size and complexity. We are proud to feature dazzling light shows, custom props, inflatables, music and much more as the convoy grows larger every year.

We have been featured in news articles, radio station interviews, local news segments and our greatest accomplishment national television by appearing in The Great Christmas Light Fight on ABC!

A group of holiday enthusiasts has covered their trucks and SUVs in multicolored lights and created a 20-vehicle holiday convoy that travels around Long Island in an effort to spread the spirit of the season through illumination. Raymond Schettini started the convoy 10 years ago and the group travels, one to two times a week, visiting charity runs, tree lightings, fire department parades and holiday fundraisers, and putting on a show. Credit: Newsday / Thomas A. “Driving along Route 25A, you might have seen a boxy vehicle decked out in lights. Candy canes stick out from its top alongside green garland.

The Long Island Holiday Jeep has been seen throughout Port Jefferson, near Stony Brook University, and even out into Huntington. Every holiday season, Michael Johnston joins dozens of other people on the road, decorating their vehicles as part of a group called The Christmas Convoy.”

INTERVIEW: David Steckowski Tells The Story Of “Sammy’s Lights On Wheels” – His Mobile Christmas Tree With Over 2,000 Lights

“David Steckowski created “Sammy’s Lights On Wheels” back in 1995. When working at the town recycling center, he threw a Christmas tree in his truck, decorated it and drove around with the tree in the back of the truck. That has now evolved into a holiday computerized light display on the go! He has taken his truck from Montauk to Manhattan, NY and points in-between.”
